Ghana: Obama's Gift Helps Villages

A gift from President Obama has brought change to a part of Ghana where, until recently, most people drank and washed in unsafe water.

In early 2010, Obama gave $100,000, a portion of his 2009 Nobel Peace Prize award, to the U.S. nonprofit organization Africare, which used the funds to expand a water and sanitation project in four rural villages in the country's Wasa Amenfi West District. More than 1,200 people benefit from the project.
