Kenya: Austrian Embassy Moves Into New Building in Nairobi

19 October 2011

The Austrian Embassy has moved into its newly built offices in Nairobi, on 536 Limuru Road, Muthaiga. The office block, planned jointly by South African and Kenyan architects, combines traditional African themes with Western-style elements and modern technical equipment. The new embassy has been built on a site that has long been in Austrian use. The embassy will save on rental costs in the long term as it guarantees security within its compound.

The Embassy will handle consular matters and visa applications from the building, according to Ambassador Christian Hasenbichler who opened the new building in the presence of Ambassador Nikolaus Marschik, the Director-General for Administrative Affairs at Austrian Foreign Ministry in Vienna.
