Liberia: 'No Fraud or Manipulation' - Carter Center Says of Ballot Counting Process

The US-based international elections observatory, the Carter Center, said its field observers have certified that the tallying and tabulation of the final results of the 2011 presidential and legislative elections  were “largely transparent with no evidence of systematic fraud and manipulation of results”.

The center’s statement came amidst the discontent of some opposition parties that the National Elections Commission (NEC) has manipulated the results in favor of the ruling unity party. The nine “Coalition of Collaborating Political Parties”, which claimed widespread fraud and result manipulation in the counting and tabulation process, vowed last week to pull out of the process unless NEC continued the process their way.
