Nigeria: Let's Pray for the Nation

Abuja — I often wonder at the capacity of the average Nigerian to champion a course, only to resort later to complaints and name-calling.

To me, this is rather comical for a nation that prides itself as the giant of Africa, a nation that has numerous intellectuals and educated people, yet lacks the moral and reasoning power to judge and direct itself when the moment calls for it. I think "fatalism" is the best word to describe the thinking and behaviour of Nigerians. Now that we have made our choice by voting Goodluck Jonathan as President, we should be sincere enough to own up to the consequence of whatever happens to us. As for me, from day one, I never believed president Jonathan has the capacity to lead Nigeria; nor do I believe in his campaign slogan of giving us "fresh air", because I know for certain that President Jonathan or any human being for that matter, lacks the capacity to produce a single drop of air, talk less of producing a "fresh one". To me, that is the jurisdiction of God Almighty.
