The decision to deploy 100 US troops to Uganda in order to contribute to efforts in the "hunt for Joseph Kony" has been, by and large, positively received.
Finally, many opined after the announcement by the Obama administration last week, the US was putting into action what it had for so long said it would do: - contribute to the elimination of the brutal and oppressive Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) in Central and East Africa. The decision to send troops or, more accurately, "military advisers," also marked a substantial shift in White House policy. Less than a year ago, the administration signed a bill which committed the US to the fight against the LRA but guaranteed that any American commitment would refrain from "putting boots on the ground."
