Liberia: Don't Boycott Presidential Run-Off, ECC Urges CDC

The Elections Coordinating Committee (ECC), a coalition of civil society organization, says its attention has been drawn to threat by the opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) to boycott the pending run-off election slated for November 8, 2011. In a press release, the ECC quotes a CDC spokesman as saying that the CDC has made several demands before they consider participating in the run-off election.

The ECC says it views the threat by the CDC to withdraw from the process at this time to be unfortunate. While there may be genuine concerns that the CDC may have on the process, the ECC states that once again calls on the CDC to channel it grievances through the procedure laid out in the elections law.
