Kenya: Mwiraria Signed Anglo Leasing Deal, Court Told

THE former Minister of Finance David Mwiraria approved the controversial contract with Anglo Leasing finance that led to a loss of over Sh7 billion, a Nairobi court was told yesterday.

Joseph Oyula, the former financial secretary in the Ministry of Finance told an anti-corruption court that it would be erroneous to accuse the former PS Joseph Magari of signing the said contract. Oyula was testifying in a case in which Magari is charged alongside former Home Affairs PS Sylvester Mwaliko and two senior Treasury officials, Wilson Kipsang and David Onyonka, with abuse of office over the Anglo Leasing scam.
