Sharing of automated teller machine (ATM) infrastructure will help bring down transaction costs and increase the reach to more Kenyans, banks experts have said.
Industry experts say banks have not cut transaction costs despite the rise in number of ATMs by individual banks. Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) data shows that the number of ATMs owned by commercial banks in the country stood at 1,979 as at the end of December last year compared to 1,717 as at the end of December 2009.
