Nigeria: Court Threatens Police With Arrest Warrant Over Adedibu's Aide, Two Others

Ibadan — In Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan on Thursday threatened to issue a warrant for the immediate arrest of a one Mojeed Alabi, former Personal Assistant to the deceased strongman of Ibadan politics, Alhaji Lamidi Ariyibi Adedibu, and two other persons, if the state police command failed to produce the trio for prosecution in connection with August 15, 2006 attacks on the premises of Pelly Foam Limited, an industrial complex within the Dugbe Business District of the Oyo State capital.

The trial judge, Hon. Justice Peter Ige of the state High Court 11, Ring-Road, Ibadan declared during Thursday's sitting that the court could no longer wait indefinitely for the Police to produce the accused persons whom the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) in the state Ministry of Justice had already recommended for prosecution over the August 2006 attack allegedly spearheaded by Adedibu and the late factional leader of the Oyo state National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Lateef Salako (a.k.a Eleweomo).
