Nigeria: Kwankwaso Laments Over High Rate of Polio in Kano

Kano — Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has expressed concern over what he described as the high number of new cases of polio in the state. Kwankwaso, who spoke at the launch of the campaign against polio, said his administration would do everything possible to see that by next year, there is no single case of polio in the state.

He added that he would ensure that the environment is kept clean, and that people of the state have access to portable water. Earlier, the UNICEF Chief of Field, Bauchi regional office, Madam Edele Thebaud said the increasing number of polio cases in the northern part of the country was worrisome. She said about 48 confirmed cases of polio have been recorded in seven Northern states.
