Nigeria: Governor Amaechi Faults Wife's Pet Project

28 October 2011

Port Harcourt — Rivers Governor Rotimi Amaechi has faulted his wife's project, saying it is an ambitious project which would become comatose by 2015 when she is no longer the first lady of the state.

The governor stated this on Wednesday at the second national conference on kindergarten education organized by the Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI), a Non-Governmental Organization founded by his wife. The governor said the plans by his wife to build over 300 nursery schools wasn't realistic because even though she can easily organise fund raising occasions now that he, her husband is in office, she would not be able to do so when he is no longer in office. Amaechi said once he leaves office, most of the people, who gathered for the event, will not respond to invitations by his wife.
