Nigeria: Four Poly Students Drown in Ogun

Abeokuta — Four students of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) Ogun State have drowned in a river at Aro, beside the Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta. The students, who were members of the Apostolic Church Students Fellowship were said to have been having a seven day prayer and fasting retreat when the incident occurred.

A member of the church who craves anonymity told newsmen in Abeokuta yesterday that the deceased went to the river to have their bath when the incident occurred. The source said the female members earlier took their bath and left the river, but that when their male counterparts went to take their bath, they decided to swim not knowing that the river was very deep.
