Nigeria: The Country's Debt Now U.S.$40 Billion - Senate

The Senate yesterday disclosed that Nigeria's total debt now stands at $39.72 billion (about N6.02 trillion).Of the total debt profile, external debts are $5.398 billion while domestic debts stood at N5.210 trillion.

Chairman Senate Committee on Foreign and Local Debts Senator Ehigie Uzamere (ACN, Edo), who disclosed this yesterday, said "this amount is unsettling and called for concern".
