Namibia: We Lack a Coordinated Housing Strategy On National Level

A neat research report on housing was released last week by the Institute for Public Policy Research. Fairly comprehensive in scope, it covers the entire spectrum of housing from the bottom end to the top. Yet the focus is not so much financial, as social and economic.

It is not often that one sees a report of this calibre from local analysts. The housing report stands out because, while it is very well researched, it is presented in an intelligible and practical format. The conclusions are, in my view, not only valid but also responsible. It is a pity that the report created headlines focussing mostly on the growing backlog in housing, ignoring the many valuable pointers for policy synchronisation and implementation.
