Liberia: NEC's Official Dismissed

The Board of Commissioners of the National Elections (NEC) has dismissed the Director of the Public Information Section, Mr. Bobby W. Livingstone, with immediate effect. Additionally, Board of Commissioners of the NEC also suspended Mr. Nathan Mulbah, the Public Information Officer for a period of six months with immediate effect. Mr. Livingstone was dismissed and Mr. Mulbah suspended, according to Board of Commissioners of the NEC in connection with the controversial letter of notice addressed to the opposition Congress for Democratic Change(CDC), informing the party of its qualification in presidential run-off election slated for the 8th of November.

In the communication to the CDC dated October 25, 2011 and signed by NEC's Chairman, Mr. James M. Fromayah, a copy of which is in possession of this paper, the body informs the CDC that the governing Unity Party (UP) obtained 394,370 or 32.7% of the valid votes cast.
