Gambia: Court Orders IBC Boss to Pay Employee's Arrears

Magistrate Clement N. Ngube at the Industrial Tribunal at the Kanifing Magistrates Court on Monday ordered Modou Ceesay, the managing director of the International Business College (IBC) to pay the remaining claims of Amie Samura, an employee at IBC.

It would be recalled that Amie Samura (the plaintiff) claimed a recovery sum of D17, 000 out of which the defendant agrees to pay the sum of D12, 000 being her maternity leave salary but denied owing her any additional amount. The judgment, which was delivered in the absence of the defendant also accorded the plaintiff an interest of D2, 000.
