Tanzania: 'Mapacha Watatu' Steal Independence Anniversary Show

FAMOUS local dance music band dubbed "Mapacha Watatu" stole the show when performing their hit tracks at the launching of Ministry of Finance's Independence Anniversary week celebrations at Mnazi Mmoja grounds in Dar es Salaam on Friday.

Trio hit singers of Khalid Chokoraa, Jose Mara and Kalala Junior raided the stage with full of energy and performed. They left the crowds charged as most screamed all the time.

"Mapacha Watatu" band has managed to carve a new tune distinct from the trio lead singers and songwriters.

Several revellers hailed the band, describing it as one of the best in the country at the moment. "I love this band; they know what they are doing.

They really make people happy," said Jane Ally a band's fan Other groups that performed during the event were Makhirikhiri Dikakapu from Gaborone Botswana and Ngurumo Cultural Group which displayed talented circus styles.

The activities were officially opened by Minister for Finance, Mustafa Mkulo, who also launched a book, which shows the ministry's activities from independence to date.
