Tanzania: Chadema Says No to New Constitution Bill

Dar es Salaam — Chama cha Maendeleo na Demokrasia (Chadema) yesterday rejected the revised Constitution Review Bill, warning that it would campaign against it in public if Parliament approves it.The party claims that the government has broken the law by seeking to table the new Bill in Parliament before passing it through the relevant committees.

Addressing a press conference yesterday, Chadema Secretary General, Dr Willibrod Slaa, said there was a need to have a free and democratic mechanism to handle the process saying the Bill was still Executive driven.
