Kenya: Muhuri Asks Government to Lift Ban Imposed On MRC

A Human Rights organization has now proposed that the government lifts a ban imposed on the Mombasa Republican Council (MRC), and instead promote dialogue to address their issues. In renewed calls to have the government dialogue with the outlawed group, Muslims for Human Rights (Muhuri) said there have been grave concerns over MRC, in the wake of arrests and detention of its members.

Muhuri proposed that by lifting the ban imposed on the group as illegal, the government can be able to engage with them in talks and understand what they want. Muhuri executive director, Khalid Hussein said the issue is going out of hand, adding that the accusations and counter accusations between the government and the MRC, are causing unnecessary unrest in the region.
