Former presidential candidate Nazlin Umar yesterday caused a stir in court after her case was adjourned to allow her alleged husband time to read the "voluminous court documents". Accusing Justice David Maraga of bias, Nazlin wondered why the case had to be adjourned yet she had moved to court under a certificate of urgency.
The 2007 only female presidential candidate complained that the court had refused to grant her interim orders, which would have seen Madatali Chatur pay her monthly upkeep of Sh2.2 million until the case was determined. Chatur has not filed a replying affidavit to Nazlin's claims, but asked the court for more time. But Justice Maraga postponed the case until November 17 to allow the said husband to peruse the documents and file his response.
