Kenya: Six Somali Immigrants Arrested in Police Swoop in Nakuru

Police operations to nab Somali illegal immigrants continued in Nakuru with the number arrested so far reaching 28. Six more suspected immigrants were arrested on Tuesday night at Moi Flats area during a raid conducted by the regular and administration police, and local chiefs. The three men and three women were found in a house within the estate. Police also arrested a middle aged woman who holds a Kenyan passport, for obstructing the raid.

Divisional police boss Johnstone Ipara said the woman tried to block the police from entering the house where the immigrants were hiding by screaming that she was being attacked by thugs. The six appeared in court on Wednesday where they were charged with being in Kenya illegally. They were released on a bond of Sh100,000 with a Kenyan surety.
