Kenya: Linda Nchi Operation May Cripple Economy

Whereas the Kenyan economy was robustly growing towards a target of 7 percent, the country's belated retaliation against Somalia based al-Qaeda surrogate-al Shabaab and the unfortunate plummeting of the shilling against major world currencies spell doom for continued economic growth and national security.

The threat posed by the Al Shabaab to Kenya can no longer be tolerated. President said as much during Mashujaa Day to justify the retaliatory military pursuit of al Shabaab outlaws inside Somalia territory. Nobody knows when the military operation- the first of its kind in a foreign land- will end but we can expect it will take a toll on our faltering economy.
