Kenya: Kisii, Nyamira Tea Payments Ready

TEA growers in Nyamira and Kisii counties have begun receiving their second payment popularly known as bonus. The growers affiliated to nine factories that are managed by the Kenya Tea Development Agency will receive a total of Sh4.1 billion. Nyansiongo tea factory in Borabu district, Nyamira County will pay the highest amount per kilo at Sh36 up from Sh30 in the financial year 2009/2010.

Ogembo Tea Factory growers in Gucha and Trans Mara West district will receive Sh615 million, the highest figure in the region. Local banks and saving, credit and cooperative societies (Saccos)in the two counties have since Monday witnessed an influx of growers going for their payments.
