A former National Security Intelligence Service officer who was sacked in 2006 has claimed that intelligence chiefs changed her dismissal letter to lock her out of a pension scheme. Nancy Bunei, a former constable who served in the Special Branch and was later absorbed into the NSIS, also claims that the organisation has refused to pay her terminal dues. Bunei has been engaged in a protracted battle with the NSIS and the Public Service Commissioner since 2006 over her dues amounting to millions of shillings.
Yesterday, Bunei, who visited the Star offices said she will challenge her dismissal in court after the PSC failed to resolve the dispute.PSC, which reviewed and sanctioned disciplinary action by NSIS for Bunei absconding from work, has not responded to any correspondence since 2006 when the NSIS addressed Bunei's terminal benefits.
