Kampala — Congestion in school dormitories and poor sanitation is putting children at a risk of acquiring heart ailment, reports from the Uganda Heart Institute (UHI) have shown.
Preliminary results from a survey done in 10 primary schools in Kampala indicate that at least nine in every 100 pupils were found with the rheumatic heart condition, a disease caused by the streptococcus bacteria which spreads in dirty congested environments.
