Uganda: Ensure Independence of Our Parliament

Given what is happening in the country today, there is need to ensure separation of powers between the different arms of government and adherence to the rule of law. Several ministers and other senior government officials have been accused of involvement in corruption and theft of public resources.

This at the expense of many poor Ugandans who are living in abject poverty. Unfortunately, the President seems to be oblivious of the gravity of his ministers' alleged corrupt tendencies by appearing to be defensive of some of them. This ambiguity has far reaching implications, including undermining of the independence of the Judiciary and the legislature.
