HIGHER Education minister Margaret Kamar wants government to increase funding for the Higher Education Loans Board to meet high demand of Kenyan's yearning for further studies. The minister said inadequate funding of the HELB has denied some bright students opportunities to continue with their education.
She said elevating more colleges into constituent campuses for universities is not enough to help absorb majority of students who excel in their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Eductaion examination. "My Ministry is going to propose extra funding to Higher Education Loans Board in order to try and meet the high demand for university education," she added.
