Statement By Victoria Nuland, Spokesperson on Liberia's Presidential Elections
The United States is deeply disappointed by the decision of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) to boycott Liberia's presidential run-off election on November 8. The CDC's charge that the first-round election was fraudulent is unsubstantiated. As evidenced by international and domestic observers, Liberia's October 11 first-round presidential and legislative elections were fair, free and transparent.
We are supportive of moving forward with the November 8 election as called for by the National Elections Commission. Participation in elections is a fundamental part of democracy. We commend all Liberians for their peaceful participation in the elections, and encourage all Liberians to exercise their political voice and vote on November 8.
The United States commends the leadership of ECOWAS, notes the important contributions of UNMIL in promoting security during the electoral period, for working with all sides to protect the integrity of Liberia's democracy. The international community, including the United States, will again send observers to monitor the election process. Resorting to violence is unacceptable.

from one rebel ruler to another. from Charles Taylor to Ellen sirleaf and now to Ellen n Prince Johnson who killed a democratically elected president Samuel Doe. Both Ellen and Prince Johnson who are now allied are warlords and the main supporters of Liberia civil war that killed over a million Liberians. like Taylor, they should also be facing trials of war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Hague. both are escaping the face of justice, and supported by the biased international community, to rig the election in order to remain in power and protect themselves against their crimes. they are strongly against the implementation of the TRC of which both are inductees. that is y they are doing everything their way with the help of ECOWAS, US, UN to cheat the Liberian people. fraudulent elections is their only way out to hold on to power. if the elections were fair as claimed by the US, UN, ECOWAS, and the rest, why then did the election commissioner and others were coerce to abandon their post in the midst of a so-called run off? if ECOWAS is not a criminal organization, y did they capture President Doe and took him to rebel leader Price Johnson to slaughter him? if the US, UN, and the international community were in the best interest of Liberia, y did they fraudulently release Charles Taylor from prison, armed him and sent him to kill thousands of Liberians? like violence are being meted out against US and UK peaceful protesters, similar is being applied to Liberians peacefully protesting against disenfranchisement of their rights. security forces opened fire and killed supporters of CDC at their party headquarters today. y is UN still providing security in Liberia if the country is in peace as claimed by Ellen? y is the Country's Chief of Staff a foreigner if Ellen respects Liberia's constitution? if Ellen is democratic and patriotic, y hasn't her government implement the TRC? if she is patriotic and respect freedom of speech and movement, y her government orders security forces to shoot at peaceful Liberians marching peacefully at their party headquarters? y did she prevent opposition political parties from holding rallies at public places while her own party hold rallies there? lets wake up and stand for our country, fellow Liberians, even if it costs the death of all Liberians as wished by Ellen and the international community for their selfish gains.
The 2011 election in Liberia will go down in history as the worse stolen election in the world beating the record of the 1926 election in Liberia again. Can someone answer these questions for me? 1. Is it legal to go in to an election process with an incomplete election commission? 2. What is it that mediators should look for in a conflict resolution election? 3. Did the national election commission violate the right by Liberians by placing the CDC on the Official Ballot Paper, after the party withdrew officially from the process? 4. What happened to the report from the TRC? 5. The more than 50% of the total registered voters that stays away from the second round do they have right? 6. Finally is the incidence of April 14. 1979 different from the incidence of November 7, 2011
