Angola: Ministry of Territory Administration to Avoid Special Ballot Boxes in 2012 Elections

Luena — The Ministry of Territory Administration (MAT) urged the civil society and media organs to speed up the awareness and mobilisation process on the electoral registration update with a view to avoiding the need for special ballot boxes during the 2012 elections.

The appeal was launched by the national director of elections, Agostinho Miguel Lima.

The official who mentioned the 2008 election, said that a high number of citizens in voting age cast their ballot in special boxes due to poor information and awareness on the importance of citizens to update their electoral data.

For the success of the process this year, Agostinho Lima called for greater involvement in awareness campaigns by political parties, civil society and specially the media organs.
