Nigeria: Sallah - Military Tightens Security in Abuja

Armed soldiers from the Brigade of Guards yesterday took up positions at the Moslem's Praying Ground at Mogadishu Barracks in Asokoro, Abuja.

Worshippers had to park their vehicles outside and trek into the barracks under strict scrutiny from the soldiers, who stopped people for searches.

The soldiers also mounted checkpoints along the Kubwa- Zuba and Mpape junction.

Apart from the soldiers, operatives of the State Security Service stood in strategic positions at Asokoro, and close to the villa, while their director-general's convoy was seen driving along Niger Barracks towards the villa road in the morning.

Our reporter observed a large turnout of faithful at Mogadishu Barracks, while most gardens and amusement parks witnessed large patronage of fun seekers.
