Sierra Leone: Population for Media Centre in Behavioral Change Drama

Freetown — Population for Media Centre Sierra Leone, an international non- governmental organization operating in the country to promote social and behavioral change concepts through drama and strategic communication skills has signed a 3-year project with UNFPA to focus on the use of various methodologies for young women to use contraceptive, reproductive health and the best way to reduce maternal and mortality rate in Sierra Leone.

PMC Country Director, Victor Massaquoi said the organization strives to improve the health and well-being of people through the use of entertainment and education strategies. He noted that mass media particularly entertainment broadcast media has played significant role in a number of countries in bringing about change in society and that his organization has promoted series of health programmes and as succeeded in using the sabido methodology in radio and television soap operas in Brazil, Ethiopia , Kenya among others.
