Africa: UN Environment Chief to Brief the Media On the Green Economy and Rio+20

press release

UN Under-Secretary General and UNEP Executive Director Achim Steiner will be briefing the media in Beijing on the prospects for the Green Economy in China and on the upcoming UN Summit on sustainable development -also known as Rio+20 -which will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in June 2012.

The briefing will give journalists an opportunity to address UNEP's ground-breaking report: Toward a Green Economy: Pathways to Sustainable Development and Poverty Eradication. While a synthesis of this report was launched last February, this is the full and final version that provides the blueprint for a transition to a Green Economy that aims to make better use of natural resources and trigger new economic growth and employment opportunities.
