Ghana: Solving Accra's Sanitation Problem

Somewhere in 2008, I visited my in-laws at Mamprobi, a suburb of Accra, and decided to take a stroll around to stretch my legs, after confining myself to the room for several hours. As I walked from one street to another, my throat became dry, and I therefore, decided to look for water to quench my thirst.

I spotted some kids selling pure water in front of a kiosk, so I quickly went to them to buy a sachet of the pure water to cool down my body temperature. After I had finished gulping down the water, I put the empty sachet bag on the table where the cooler containing the pure water had been placed. My intention was to ensure the proper disposal of the plastic waste, but before I could take few steps, one of the kids selling water and who was sitting a distance away, just got up, walked straight to the table, picked the empty water sachet, and threw it on the ground as though what I did was wrong.
