Kenya: Sonko Turns Heat On Airport Inspector Over Assault Case

Makadara MP Gidion 'Sonko' Mbuvi now wants the Director of Public Prosecution to order police commissioner to institute proceedings against a police officer he has been accused of assaulting. Sonko has written to Keriako Tobiko asking him to investigate and consequently charge Chief Inspector Linus Shimoli whom he claims accosted him at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport last month.

Sonko has denied assaulting Shimoli on September 19, at the Departure Lounge of the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport while the officer was executing official duties of crowd control. He has been charged before a Kibera Court with three counts of assaulting the officer, refusal to comply with the given instructions and threatening breach of peace at the JKIA's departure lounge with a fourth charges of refusing to be taken fingerprints being added when he appeared in court on Wednesday.
