Liberia: Claims, Counter Claims Over Insurance Agreement In NTAL

The Secretary General of the National Teachers Association of Liberia (NTAL), Mr. Samuel Y. Johnson has denied having any link with claim made by some members of the Association that recently threatened to state a Go Slow action against the Ministry of Education. It can be recalled that both The Insight and Analyst newspapers mid last week reported that some teachers from the NTAL were planning to stage a “Go Slow” action unless the Ministry of Education rescinded its decision to sign an Insurance agreement with the Risk Insurance group, an agreement the aggrieved teachers alleged was fraudulently done and therefore threatened to stage a “go slow.”

But just days following the news of their threat of “Go slow”, the Union’s Secretary General has disassociated himself from the groups claims, terming it as false and completely misleading. “Ladies and gentlemen of the press, I write to disassociate myself from the false and misleading story carries in your Monday, November 21 edition of The Analyst newspaper captioned “National Teachers Association of Liberia threatens Go-SLOW”, Mr. Johnson in a press release issued yesterday, November 22, 2011, said.
