Dar es Salaam — Tanzanian writers have not been successful because they have not been carrying out research on the book market, Vice President Mohamed Gharib Bilal said yesterday.
He made the observation in a speech read on his behalf by the Dar es Salaam regional commissioner, Mr Said Meck Sadik, during the 20th commemorations of the Reading Week held at the national library.He said most local writers have been giving priority to writing text books because of the false notion that only students were supposed to read.
