Kenya: Three Ethanol Smugglers Arrested By Bondo Police

POLICE in Bondo have arrested three people suspected of smuggling 1,500 litres of ethanol spirit. The spirit, valued at Sh2.5 million is suspected to have been sourced in Uganda.

Police impounded the consignment at Usigu beach in Bondo. Bondo DCIO Stephen ole Tangi said the 59 drums were being transported to Kisumu. "The suspects used rice husks to conceal the identity of the consignment," said Tangi. He noted that the consignment is the largest haul police have ever impounded in the area. He said the police are carrying out investigations to find out who are linked to the illicit business.
