Nigeria: Reps Reject Planned Oil Subsidy Removal

IN its first formal response to the subsidy controversy, the House of Representatives yesterday rejected the plan of the government to remove fuel subsidy by January next year, describing the plan as premature.

Separately, lawmakers have spoken in the past against the proposal, which is a crucial part of the Jonathan administration's economic blueprint next year.
