Kenya: US Set to Launch 'Yes Youth Can' Fund in Kenya

IMPROVING Kenya's economic growth rate is critical to the stability of the country and the entire region, the US Government has said. Deputy Chief of Mission at the US embassy in Kenya, Lee Anthony Brudvig, said youths from the region being were being recruited to join al Shabaab because they were idle.

He said the impact of the Yes Youth Can Youth Fund to be launched soon to promote youth voices and their livelihoods will be felt beyond Kenyan borders and contribute towards stability of the region. "A more stable and prosperous Kenya is good for Uganda, South Sudan and Somalia. Youth with jobs and opportunities are less likely to join al Shabaab but instead contribute to the safety, security and prosperity of the region," said Brudvig.
