Kenya: Widow Wins Suit to Inherit Property

The Court of Appeal yesterday dismissed a case by a man who challenged his cousin's decision to leave his property to his childless widow.

Saifudan Mohammed Ali Noorbhai lost his bid to have the court award him three quarters of the property as the sole remaining blood relative of Abde Hussein Ibrahim Noorbhai Adamjee, while applying the Sharia Law. The law states that such a widow is only entitled to a quarter of the property.
