The South African Under 20 Women's National Team (Basetsana) has been defeated by two goals to one (2-1) Namibia in an international friendly match played at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek, Namibia.
The clash against the neighbours was used to assist Basetsana coach Sheryl Botes in building the Under 20 Women's national squad for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers set to begin in February next year. The FIFA U20 Women's World Cup will be staged in Uzbekistan in 2012.
Robyn Moodaly, who also plays for Banyana Banyana, scored South Africa's solitary goal.
Botes feels a lot of progress has been made since putting the team together. The main objective of the match was to see how well they'd work together as a team.
"I believe the team played quiet well against Namibia on their home turf. This was a good test for us since the Namibians spent a month in Germany preparing for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. I made four substitutions during the match to give most players a chance on the field and now I have a clear indication of what we need to do going forward," said Botes.
The Basetsana squad has already returned to South Africa.
