From the moment the Anglican Diocese of New Westminster, in the Anglican Church of Canada permitted the blessing of same-sex unions in 2002, to 2003 when the Episcopal Diocese of New Hampshire elected Gene Robinson as its first openly gay Bishop and precipitated worldwide divisions in the Anglican communion especially in the Third World (where the protests were louder and resistance both moves continues to be severe).

For instance, the Anglican Church of Nigeria issued a statement in 2006 affirming its "commitment to the total rejection of the evil of homosexuality which is a pervasion of human dignity and encourages the National Assembly to ratify the Bill prohibiting the legality of homosexuality", I knew it was only a matter of time before people the world over, and regardless of their religion and sexuality, would be forced to take a definite stand on the matter.
