Kenya: Telcos Woo Customers to Post-Paid Platform

Mobile telecommunication firms are adopting money transfer services and reducing the amount of personal information required for subscribers joining post-paid offers amid stiff competition which has led to eroded voice earnings.

Data from the Communications Commission of Kenya (CCK) says the number of post-pay subscriptions grew by 1.18 per cent in the year ending June 2011 to reach 226,888 compared to pre-paid clients who grew by 0.02 per cent.
