South Sudan: Abyei As an Area Has Never Been a Subject of Contest Between Ngok Dinka and Messeriya

As civilians are determined to return to their villages in Abyei area, the Abyei Administration Area needs to ensure appropriate measures to safeguard their lives. It is apparent the challenges are huge and without cooperation as sons and daughters we will remain as people with no land.

The threat of Messeriya's militants has doubled because Sudan Armed Forces are generously rewarding Messeriya with the best of their artilleries. The danger of landmines, which covered the interior area, needs to be tackled through the help of Ethiopian Peace Keeping Forces. Moreover, the issue of hunger and rummaging of donors' assistance requires better coordination efforts at all level of authorities.
