Uganda: Entebbe Leaders, NEMA Trade Blame

Entebbe — Authorities at Entebbe Municipal Council have accused the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) for delaying the process of evicting beach owners who constructed illegal structures that have barred people from accessing the Lake Victoria shores.

The council had given a two-month ultimatum to all beach owners who had such structures to demolish them to allow people access the lake shore. The ultimatum has since elapsed but the council cannot evict or demolish illegal structures without NEMA's authority.
