Mr Solomon Ogba, the President, Athletic Federation of Nigeria (AFN), on Wednesday described the late Technical Director of the federation, Sunday Bada, as a "priceless pillar of AFN".
Ogba paid the tribute as he joined other Nigerians to mourn the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games silver medallist in 4x400 metres.
Bada, 42, was born in Kwara and specialised in the 400 metres. He died on Monday.
Ogba told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Benin that Bada was a "priceless pillar of AFN" who would be missed by the sporting world and the Nigeria Police Force which produced him.
"We can't forget him easily though he has paid his dues but it will be difficult to fill this vacuum," he said.
