Nigeria: In Kano, Help for Mothers and Children

Kano — Recently the Maternal Neonatal Child Health Week (MNCHW) was marked as a programme which centers on reducing the maternal and child mortality rate in 10 Northern States, namely Bauchi, Kano, Jigawa, Adamawa, Borno, Nassarawa, Plateau, Taraba, Yobe and Gombe.

The MNCHW which started on the 14th November and ends on the 18th was funded by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). It is a programme that ensures free distributions of certain drugs and mosquito nets to children and pregnant mothers, in an attempt to reduce the maternal and child mortality rate. The drugs distributed during the program include Vitamin A blue, Vitamin A red, Alberdozole, Anti-malaria and mosquito net.
