Egypt: High Dam Not Affected By Aswan Tremor

A report presented to the Minister of Irrigation on Tuesday 27/12/2011 confirmed that the High Dam was not affected by a tremor that hit the Upper Egyptian city of Aswan on 26/12/2011.

The body of the dam is intact and it is capable of enduring an eight-degree-earthquake, the report said affirming that such mild quakes do not affect the efficiency of the dam.

The telemetric seismic network around the dam and its lake that is affiliated to Aswan's seismology center is working round the clock to detect any seismological activity in the area, the report added.
