THE only consolation Botswana's hip hop star Zeus got when he dated Zambia on December 30, 2011 was his guaranteed cash and his girlfriend's birthday celebration away from home. Romantic!
This was after his show, that was supposed to be supported by Slap Dee recorded a Zero turnout at Lusaka's Hollywood City.
But interestingly, the Tswana BBA calm and collected dude who was accompanied by his fine looking girlfriend Sesame Mosweu, seemed to have accepted the situation without any hard feelings after all.
Perhaps his calmness and composure were the reason why he was Botswana's favourite to represent that country in the continent's arguably biggest reality show - Big Brother Amplified.
Anyway, three things would have led to the letdown which even he himself Zeus attributed to when he came around midnight from the hotel for the performance that never was. Firstly, it was the poor publicity of the show.
Apart from small ear-piece adverts in some sections of the media and few radio announcements, Zeus had no proper banner or posters befitting an international a continental celebrity and performer of his calibre. It was a minus for the promoters Kiss Africa entertainment.
"I did my homework and I was prepared, it all goes down to the promoter who did not do his job. I am cool with it and I cannot blame the Zambian audience because I believe they did not get adequate publicity about this show," Zeus said with his signature smile.
Asked if he was in any way heartbroken, all he could say was: "No, no man... I am cool with it, am happy because this is a learning phase for my future engagements ... but trust me am in no way heartbroken."
The other possible reason would have been that people were saving for the New Year's Eve and could not part away with a K50,000 when places like East point were free of charge that night.
And the last possible reason would be that the artist has no hit track that has dominated the Zambian airwaves to give him that signature face of reference to his fans.
Apart from being a BBA star of which only a few privileged knew, Zeus has no hit song that a Zambian audience can well follow like was the case with Neato C' 10 over 10, though you can not take anything away from his immense talent.
After sharing light moments with his former housemate Mumba, for some good 30 to 40 minutes outside Hollywood City nightclub, Zeus resorted to joining other partying groups at one of the night clubs in the cityof Lusaka.
True to his earlier words of 'no heady feeling', Zeus has promised to come back to Zambia this time around with Malawi's BBA finalist Lomwe, who has an interesting love past with Zambia's other BBA envoy Kim. The duo is coming to launch one of the most anticipated projects.
