Uganda: Government Fails to Secure Funds to Fix Roads

Government has failed to secure funds to fix a number of roads earmarked for construction in the 2010-2011 financial year due to the high costs involved, Works and Transport Minister Abraham Byandala has said.

Mr Byandala was responding to demands by leaders from Tororo, Mbale, Bukedea, Kumi, Ngora and Soroti districts last week that he explains why Dott Services Limited, a company contracted to repair the Tororo-Mbale to Soroti road, had failed to fix it two years after the contract was awarded.
